Types of Services For Students With Disabilities:

Special Education – Specially designed instruction at no cost to the parents to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.

Related Services – Supports required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education. Examples would be transportation, speech language pathology, audiology services, etc.

Supplementary Aids and Services – Aids and services and other supports that are provided in regular education classes, other education related settings, and in extracurricular and nonacademic settings to enable children with disabilities to be educated with nondisabled children to the maximum extent appropriate. Examples would be peer tutors, assistive technology, taped textbooks, etc.

Program Modifications and/or Supports For School Personnel – Any type of change made in the general education program to support the successful progress of a student with a disability. Examples would be trainings for teachers in how to use special devices and equipment needed by students with disabilities and part time assistance from an instructional aide or community volunteer to help supervise the classroom.
